고난주간의 끝자락에 이르며, 캐나다를 비롯해 전 세계 그리스도인들에게 가장 성스러운 이 시기에 부활절은 우리로 하여금 깊이 묵상하고, 기뻐하며, 용서와 새로움, 그리고 새 생명이라는 귀한 은혜에 감사하도록 초대합니다.

또한 우리는 한국전 참전 용사들을 떠올립니다. 그분들의 용기와 희생은 한국 국민의 자유와 평화를 지켜낸 값진 헌신이었습니다. 특히 이달 말 가평전투 75주년을 앞두고 있는 지금, 압도적인 공산군의 공세에 맞서 보여준 캐나다 군인들의 용맹은 오래도록 기억되어야 할 숭고한 유산으로 다가옵니다.

오늘날 국내외적으로 복잡한 도전에 직면한 이 시대 속에서, 부활절의 정신은 우리가 서로를 이해하고 공통의 가치를 찾아 평화로운 미래를 향해 함께 나아가도록 이끌어 줍니다.

이 특별한 부활절에 가족과 사랑하는 이들과 함께하는 가운데, 십자가 위에서 이루신 그리스도의 희생을 통해 드러난 조건 없는 사랑과 흔들림 없는 믿음, 그리고 구원의 약속이라는 아름답고 영원한 메시지가 여러분의 마음과 가정에 위로와 평안, 그리고 소망으로 가득하기를 기도합니다.

EASTER MESSAGE FROM THE HONOURABLE YONAH MARTIN

As we come to the close of Holy Week, one of the most sacred seasons for Christians across Canada and around the world, Easter invites us to reflect, rejoice, and give thanks for the precious gifts of forgiveness, renewal, and new life.  

Our thoughts also turn to our beloved Veterans of the Korean War whose courage and sacrifice ensured the protection and freedom of the Korean people.  It is a poignant time to remember their enduring legacy, particularly as we approach the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Gapyeong (Kapyong) later this month – a testament to Canadian valour against an overwhelming communist offensive. 

In a world that continues to navigate complex challenges, both at home and abroad, the spirit of Easter encourages us to find common ground, foster understanding, and work together for a peaceful future.

As you gather with family and loved ones during this special Easter season, may the beautiful and timeless message of unconditional love, unwavering faith, and the promise of redemption through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross bring comfort, peace, and hope to your hearts and homes.
